Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes Seventh at NESCAC Championship

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -  The Bowdoin women's swimming and diving team finished seventh at the 2026 NESCAC Championship.

The Polar Bears concluded the meet with 706.5 points to sit comfortably in seventh place. The Williams Ephs took the top spot with 1725.5.
 
Meet Highlights
  • Bowdoin opened the meet with a seventh-place finish in the 800 free relay and a time of 7:37.48. Harper Stevenson, Ava Harrington, Ellie Denney, and Elizabeth Walsh combined to earn the points for the Polar Bears.
  • Adeline Wongso earned a spot in the Consolation Final of the 50 breaststroke with a 29.85 in the qualifier, followed by a 29.87 while racing for points. Ruqayyah Abouraya qualified for the preconsolation Final and swam a 31.12 after swimming a 31.02 in the qualifier.
  • Bowdoin was well represented in the 500 free, including Harper Stevenson's fifth-place finish (5:01.47). Both Riley Kopp (5:10.44) and Katie Coulter (5:16.28) competed in the preconsolation finals.
  • Kopp swam to a 10:42.72 and 16th overall in the 1000 free and jumped up again in the 1650 for an eighth place finish (17:42.09)
  • Stevenson tied for fourth in the championship finals for the 200 fly with an NCAA B-cut time of 2:30.80. Lillis also swam in the finals and earned eighth with a 2:05.98. Coulter was 22nd (2:09.23).
  • Ellie Denney earned a 19th overall in the 50 backstroke with a 27.50 and 18th in the 100 free (52.47). Denney picked up a 13th place finish in the 50 free (24.02), followed immediately by teammate Nina Fearon (24.08).
  • Elizabeth Walsh had a strong showing in the consolation finals of the 200 IM (2:07.49) and finished 10th. Florence Millet appeared in the preconsolation and earned 21st with a 2:11.25.
  • Walsh swam to a sixth place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:22.00. Millett won the consolation final with a 2:22.25 and Wongso won the preconsolation final (2:25.80).
  • In the 400 IM, Millett smashed her time from prelims to take ninth in the consolation finals. Millet's swim of 4:31.95 would have put her fifth in the finals.
  • On the 1 meter, Ursula von Goeler finished sixth in the Finals with a score of 412.35. von Goeler jumped up to third on the 3 meter with 449.30 points.
  • Lillis appeared in the preconsolation finals for the 100 butterfly and finished 23rd with a 57.56.
  • Bowdoin's 400 free relay finished 10th with a 3:31.76. Walsh, Denney, Stevenson, and Fearon competed for the Polar Bears.
  • Walsh was fifth in the NESCAC for Career High-Point Swimmer with 296.
