Lissa McGrath Millett '83 Selected for CSCAA Division III Hall of Fame

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Bowdoin College alumna Lissa McGrath Millett '83 has been selected for induction into the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division III Hall of Fame in 2026.

The CSCAA Hall of Fame honors the exceptional achievements and lasting contributions of NCAA Division III swimmers, divers, and coaches. Millett will be inducted on May 4, 2026, at Joe's Live in Rosemont during the CSCAA Annual Awards Celebration, hosted at the Loews Chicago.

Millett is the most accomplished swimmer in Bowdoin history. A 19-time All-American across nine events and the daughter of Bob McGrath '52—Bowdoin's second All-American swimmer—she captured 11 New England titles and three national championships, and held 20 Bowdoin records upon graduation. Several of her marks stood for more than two decades, including the 100 freestyle, 100 IM, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Her senior season (1982–83) was particularly extraordinary.

In 1982–83, Millett won every race she entered, totaling 29 consecutive victories and five New England titles. She dominated the individual medley, claiming all three of her national championships in IM events. At the 1983 New England Championships, she received the Kay Fromer Award for most career points. She also played a key role in elevating Bowdoin's women's program; the team's 8–1 record in 1983 was the best in its history to that point.

In recognition of her achievements, Millett was inducted into the Bowdoin Athletic Hall of Honor in 2003.
