Crum Finishes Second In Season Opening Nordic Race

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Bowdoin Nordic ski team opened the season with a strong performance at the St. Lawrence Carnival on Sunday and Tuesday.
 
The Polar Bears combined to finish comfortably in sixth place overall with 292 points. The women's side finished fifth both days and the men were eighth on Sunday and Tuesday.
 
Carnival Highlights
  • Emma Crum returned to the snow and picked up where she left off last season. Crum finished as runner-up in the season-opening classic race with a time of 30:22.1 and ninth in the freestyle sprint on Tuesday.
  • Gillian Fairfax finished in the top-15 in the classic and Ruth Krebs was top-25. Keira Scott, Kira Gilbert, and Jordan Grialou finished 31-32-33, respectively.
  • Krebs jumped up the standings in day two with an 11th place finish. Scott finished top-30.
  • William Riley and Oliver Swabey both finished top-25 on Sunday to lead the men.
  • Two different skiers led the men on Tuesday. Beckett Cote snagged 29th and Eli Shifrin finished just behind in 33rd.
