Nordic Faces Bitter Cold At Colby Carnival And Turns In Strong Results

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin nordic team remained consistent with a sixth-place overall finish at the Colby Carnival over the weekend.
 
The Polar Bears combined for 296 points as the women finished fifth both days and the men finished sixth and seventh.
 
Carnival Highlights
  • The weekend's events were flip-flopped in anticipation of frigid Saturday temperatures. Friday was the first 20k freestyle mass start of the season, and Saturday was the 7.5k individual classic.
  • Emma Crum continued to pace the Polar Bears with a sixth-place finish on Friday. Mirra Payson and Jordan Grialou both finished in the top-25. Kira Gilbert snagged 30th.
  • Bowdoin's Beckett Cote and William Riley finished 22nd and 23rd in the 20k to lead the men's side. Oliver Swabey finished close behind in 26th.
  • Crum was the top finisher on Saturday with a seventh-place result, while Grialou skyrocketed up the standings for a 12th place finish. Ruth Krebs snagged 20th.
  • Cote performed well on a familiar course on Saturday and posted 17th place finish. Riley snagged 23rd, while Lars Sorom and Swabey slid into the top-30.
