Pole Vault Records Fall at Coffey Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College track & field teams battled through poor weather throughout the weekend to post outstanding performances at Providence and Smith.

Providence Meet Highlights

Six Polar Bears competed at Providence against mostly Division I competition.
Astrid McGuire took the top finish for Bowdoin, placing second in the women's 800m (2:16.88) with Kaylee Hale placing fifth in the race in 2:17.70.
Oliver Brandes took fourth in the men's 800m (1:52.42).

Carla Coffey Invitational (Smith) Highlights

With jumping events moved indoors due to poor weather conditions, Ian Stebbins broke the men's pole vault mark with a winning height of 5.0 meters (16' 4.75") while Charlotte Hodge broke her own women's pole vault mark for the second straight week with a height of 3.91m (12' 10")
The Bowdoin men had several other event winners at the event hosted by Smith College.
For the Polar Bear men, winners included Brendan Burke in the 200m (23.08), Lars Sorom in the 800m (1:58.28), Kane Demers in the long jump (6.82m) and triple jump (14.18m), and Charlie Aucoin in the discus (44.24m).
The Bowdoin women got wins from Kennedy Kirkland in the 200m (26.22) and long jump (5.83m), Catherine Uwakwe in the 100 hurdles (15.99), Emma Gibbens in the shot put (11.73m), and Ginger Arnold in the javelin (39.03m).
Bowdoin also won the men's 4x100 relay (Dominic Ashinze, Omar Frostman El-Hma, Justin Whitney, Noah Rockey in 43.82) and 4x400 relay (Ronan O'Flaherty, Ian Bridges, Noah Rockey, Adepoju Arogundade in 3:24.14).
