MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Kennedy Kirkland set a new all-time mark in the long jump as the Bowdoin track & field teams opened the outdoor season at Wesleyan on Saturday.
Kirkland bested her own outdoor record of 5.77m with a new mark of 6.28m. The jump ranks her third all-time in NCAA Division III history and first for 2025. The 6.28m jump also puts Kirkland third in the country, regardless of division. Kirkland's third jump also topped her school record (6.10m).
Meet Highlights
- Kirkland also topped the podium in the 200m with a time of 24.91 to move into second all-time at Bowdoin.
- Catherine Uwakwe improved to fifth all-time with a win in the 100m (15.36) and eighth all-time in the 400 (winning time of 1:07.98).
- Bowdoin finished one-two in the pole vault as Charlotte Hodge went 11' 1.75" and Sophie Maguire finished with a 10' 8".
- Ginger Arnold won the javelin with a throw of 39.89m and improved to fifth on Bowdoin's all-time list. Mardy Novak finished second with a 36.96m.
- Astrid McGuire earned a win in the 1500 with a 4:49.81 and Cam Meyer did the same in the 5000 (18:18.23).
- Kane Demers moved into a tie for 4th on Bowdoin's leader board after a win in the 110 hurdles (14.99).
- Ian Stebbins outpaced the competition in the pole vault with a height of 4.70m.
- Seamus McDonough picked up a win in the 5000m (15:18.09).
- Bowdoin took first, second, and fourth in 400 hurdles. Adepoju Arogundade led the way with a 54.40, followed by Joseph Phillips (56.79), and Jonas Varnas (58.11).
