BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin senior
Sydney Jones (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) has been named a WBCA Division III First Team All American, capping a extraordinary career by becoming just the second Polar Bear to be a two-time First Team All-American, joining Eileen Flaherty '07.
Additionally, Jones was named the NEWBA Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Region I Player of the Year in awards announced this week.
The only back-to-back NESCAC Player of the Year in conference history, Jones ends her career as the fourth-leading scorer in Bowdoin women's basketball history (1,595) and is the only player in program history to score 1,500 points, grab 600 rebounds, total 300 assists, and rack up 200 steals in a career.
This season, she averaged a career-high 16.4 points with 6.5 boards, 3.5 assists and a career-best 78 steals as the Polar Bears won their second straight NESCAC title, advanced to the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen, and ended the year with a 29-1 record.
