BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin first-year
Jayson Alegria (New Rochelle, N.Y.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week.
Alegria led the Polar Bears in a pair of road games at Conn. College and Tufts to keep the Polar Bears unbeaten in NESCAC play. Down 2-1 in the third period at Conn. College, Alegria scored the game-tying goal, unassisted, in the third period to force a 2-2 tie. Against Tufts, the rookie broke a 1-1 deadlock with a goal in the final seconds of the opening period and followed up by assisting on the game-winner with under seven minutes to play in the third period to secure a 3-2 victory. For the weekend, Alegria's two goals and assist all came on game-tying and game-winning scores.
Bowdoin (6-1-1) will close out their first semester with a home game on Saturday, December 13, against Salve Regina (3:00 p.m.).
