LANCASTER, Pa. - The Bowdoin College squash teams got their seasons underway on the road this weekend with matches in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The Polar Bear women, ranked 18
th nationally, lost to Georgetown but picked up a win against F&M. The Bowdoin men, ranked 21
st in the country, lost to both the Navy and the Franklin & Marshall.
Women's Highlights
- The women's squad lost 9-0 to 14th-ranked Georgetown and defeated 27th -ranked Franklin & Marshall, 7-2.
- Darcy Weber collected a 3-1 win at number two against the Diplomats.
- Bowdoin swept all five other matches by 3-0 scores, courtesy of Linley Grosman, Amelie Matuch, Elizabeth Kennedy, Ame Hamrahi, and Mira Karande. Bowdoin won by default at number nine.
Men's Highlights
- Bowdoin suffered a 9-0 setback to the 15th-ranked Naval Academy and lost to number 16 Franklin & Marshall.
- First-year Oliver Pride led the way for the Polar Bears, playing to a 3-2 setback at number nine against Navy and then earning Bowdoin's lone win against F&M, 3-1.
- Fotis Zafiriou played a five-gamer against F&M in a tightly-played 3-2 loss.
