Coach Pizzo's Report - October 6

The Polar Bears competed in two regattas this past weekend including the Hewitt Trophy at home and the Open Atlantic Coast Championship at Coast Guard.  

At Bowdoin, twelve races were completed in each division over two full days on the water.  Saturday's racing featured a great sea breeze while Sunday was much lighter with tricky current.  The Polar Bears had a great Sunday and came from behind to win the event. The Polar Bears also had a second team which finished seventh overall.  Competing for the Polar Bears was Lucca Antonietti, Maggie Tripp, Kate Lavalee, Henry Ladd, Lottie Pare, Noah Reischmann, Eve Cintron, Charlie Conover, Lily Spartz, Owen Benison with Chris Dakers and Owen Warren in reserve.

The racing at Coast Guard was limited with light breeze all weekend. Eight races were completed in each division over the two day regatta.  The Polar Bears struggled a bit on Saturday but were able to put together some good races when it counted on Sunday and finished ninth overall, two points in front of Tufts to secure the final qualifying position for the Atlantic Coast Championship.  Competing for the Polar Bears was Michelangelo Vecchio, Izzy Tsuchitori, Kyra Phelan, Ethan Danielson, Elizabeth Wire with Kique Ruiz and Riley Donahue in reserve.
