MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College track & field team opened its outdoor campaign in tough conditions at the Wesleyan University Swanson Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears boasted a number of New England D-III qualifiers and had notable performances despite the torrential rain. All jumping events and the shot put were competed indoors due to weather.
 
Women's Meet Highlights

• Pole vaulter Charlotte Hodge (3.83 meters) improved her second place all-time mark and currently ranks third in Division III.
• Stephanie Chun (17:39.68) beat her career best in the 5K by three seconds, improved to fifth all-time at Bowdoin in the event, and qualify for New England D-III's.
• Tori Bacall made her debut in the 10K (38:13.72) and placed seventh on Bowdoin's all-time list with a New England D-III qualifying time.
• Bowdoin's other New England Division III qualifiers included Sophie Maguire (3.25m, pole vault), Abby Mueller (18:08.70, 5K), and Corinne Ahern (42.24m, hammer throw).
• The Polar Bears had three shot putters reach the New England Division III qualifying standard: Ginger Arnold (11.60m), Mardy Novak (11.53m), and Emma Gibbens (11.34m).

Men's Meet Highlights

• Ian Stebbins posted a career-best 4.70 in the pole vault, moving into second all-time at Bowdoin, and third in Division III overall.
• Will Goddard recorded an eight-second career best in the 5K (14:45.65), moving into third all-time in the school record books.
• In addition to those two New England Division III qualifiers, Bowdoin also Omar Frostman El-Hmaini  in the triple jump (13.06m), and Charlie Aucoin in the shot put (13.94m) reach the regional standard.
