GORHAM, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's indoor track and field team dominated the Maine State Championships on Saturday at the University of Southern Maine, claiming back-to-back titles for the first time since 2012-13.
Bowdoin totaled 234 points, winning the crown by a whopping 77-point margin over closest competitor Bates.
Kianne Benjamin (200m, 400m, 4x400m relay) was named Track MVP of the meet while
Jenna Albanese (long jump and triple jump) claimed Field MVP of the championship.
Meet Highlights
- Benjamin cemented her status as one of the top performers in state meet history, breaking her own meet record in the 200m (25.09), winning the 400m (57.79), and anchoring the 4x400 relay (4:05.73) with Gabby Phillips, Catherine Uwakwe, and Kennedy Kirkland.
- Albanese highlighted another stellar weekend for the Polar Bear field events, winning both the long jump (5.59m) and triple jump (10.86).
- Lauren Traum was a double-event winner as well, taking both the 800m (2:23.12) and mile (5:16.69) events for the Polar Bears.
- Among Bowdoin's 11 state champions, Stephanie Chun claimed the 3000m (10:21.99), Abby Mueller won the 5000m (18:19.01), Corinne Ahern took the weight throw (15.37m), and Charlotte Hodge won the pole vault (3.70m)
