Benjamin Sparks Women's Track & Field To Fourth at New England D-III's

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's indoor track and field team recorded its best finish at New England Division III's since 2013, taking fourth place overall at the regional championship last weekend.
 
Meet Highlights
  • Kianne Benjamin led the effort for Bowdoin with a 28-point meet, beginning her day by breaking the school record in the 60m finals in 7.55 seconds to move into third on the NCAA performance list.
  • Shortly after that, Benjamin ran her second-best personal time in the 400m, taking second place in 56.04, and then capped her day with a school-record time of 24.35 in the 200m, earning her second New England title on the day.
  • Kennedy Kirkland entered the meet seeded tenth in the 200m, but vaulted into a fantastic second-place finish with a personal best (25.21) to finish right behind Benjamin.
  • Lauren Traum placed third in the 1000m (2:59.55) with a personal-best time that moves into the top-five in Bowdoin history.
  • The women's distance medley relay team placed fifth in the event, winning their unseeded section by a large margin in 12:38.31, courtesy of Lex Davis, Gabby Phillips, Francine Miller, and Abby Mueller.
  • Emma Gibbens unleashed a throw of 11.88 meters in her final attempt to earn an eighth-place finish in the shot put for Bowdoin.
  • Rose Jenkins set a nearly 200-point PR in the pentathlon, racking up 3,124 points, taking fourth place overall, while Anna Yang also posted a career-best 2,730 points to take eighth.
  • Bowdoin totaled 60 points to place fourth of 27 scoring teams, matching their 2022 result as the best for the program in the last 11 years.
