Track Teams Have Numerous New England D-III Qualifiers at Home Invite

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College track & field teams hosted a non-scoring meet at Farley Field House including a handful of competitors from Thomas, Colby, and UMaine-Farmington on Saturday. The Polar Bears had numerous D-III New England qualifiers at the event.
 
Men's Meet Highlights
  • Bowdoin had three 60m hurdlers earn New England D3 qualifying standards as Parker Beatty (8.35), Kane Demers (8.40), and Adepoju Arogundade (8.62), while Demers also met the standard in the 200m (22.81).
  • Bowdoin had several strong showings in the distance events, including Oliver Brandes in the 1000m (2:33.85), Will Goddard in the mile (4:15.87), and Brooks Peters in the 3000m (8:42.21), all who earned NE-D3 qualification.
  • In the field events, Ian Stebbins and Nick Sibiryakov both posted a height of 4.55m in the pole vault to qualify for New England D-III's. Stebbins also qualified with a distance of 6.55m in the long jump while Omar Frostman El-Hmaini reached a distance of 13.04m to qualify in the triple jump for Bowdoin.
  • Charlie Aucoin also earned a trip to New England's with a throw of 13.40 meters in the shot put.
Women's Meet Highlights
  • Kennedy Kirkland reached the New England D-III standard in both the 60 hurdles (8.05) and 200m (26.60) events, while Kianne Benjamin posted a time of 57.60 in the 400m to also earn qualification.
  • Jenna Albanese (5.56m) and Sophia Young (5.18m) both reached the standard in the long jump for the Polar Bears.
  • In the throws, first-years Ginger Arnold (11.42m) and Mardy Novak (11.36m) both qualified in the shot put for Bowdoin while Corinne Ahern met the standard in the weight throw (13.78m).
Up Next
  • Bowdoin will compete in their first scoring meet of the season next weekend as they travel to Lewiston to compete at the Bates Invitational on January 19-20.
