Women's Squash Claims Season-Opener at Bates

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's squash team knocked off Bates on Saturday in its season opener, 6-3. The Polar Bears enter the season ranked 19th in the nation while the Bobcats stand 18th.

  • The Polar Bears' depth proved to be the difference as Bowdoin swept the final six positions to claim the victory.
  • Janie Lytle picked up a 3-0 win at number eight in the lone Polar Bear sweep of the day.
  • A quartet of 3-1 wins by Delphine King, Eshika Tangri, Clare Collins and Mira Karande were key to the Polar Bears crossing the finish line.
  • The tightest match of the day was won by Skyler Spaulding at number four as she won a 3-2 (8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 13-11) victory.
  • The victory by Bowdoin over Bates is the second in a row and third in the last four seasons.

  • Bowdoin's Sunday match against Trinity was postponed and will be rescheduled for the second semester. The Polar Bears are off until January 6 against Wesleyan at the Lubin Center.
