RINDGE, N.H. – The Bowdoin College cross country teams finished their seasons at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday hosted at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. The Polar Bear men finished fourth overall and the women took seventh.
Despite both teams missing out on qualifying for the NCAA Championship,
Will Goddard and
Brooks Peters both earned at-large individual bids to the championship next weekend in Pennsylvania.
Men's Meet Highlights
- The Polar Bears finished fourth with a score of 118 points, trailing Bates (97) and finishing just ahead of WPI (130). It is the best finish at an NCAA Regional for Bowdoin since placing second at the 2012.
- Brooks Peters and Will Goddard placed sixth and eighth, respectively, to easily capture individual at-large bids to the NCAA Championship and net All-Region recognition.
- Peters finished the 8k in a time of 24:48.3 while Goddard posted a time of 24:53.5.
- The next three Polar Bears were Oliver Brandes (31st in 25:46.4), Sam Angevine (36th in 25:55.6) and Ben Bockmann (37th in 25:59.3).
Women's Meet Highlights
- The women's team was seventh of 34 teams with 229 points, trailing Suffolk (216) and edging Wellesley (241).
- Stephanie Chun led the way for Bowdoin, earning All-Region recognition with a 23rd place finish in 22:35.2.
- Tori Bacall was Bowdoin's second-best finisher, taking 46th in 23:24.3 while Kelsey Crawford (23:31.3) and Claire Wyman (23:31.8) ended in 51st and 52nd spot, respectively.
- Abby Mueller rounded out Bowdoin's top five finishers in a time of 23:37.2 in 57th place.
