BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's squash team picked up a pair of wins last week as they opened the 2023 calendar year. The 16^th-ranked Polar Bears defeated William Smith and St. Lawrence while losing to Dartmouth and Stanford to move to 8-3 this season.  
 
Match Highlights

• Bowdoin opened last weekend with losses to tenth-ranked Dartmouth (9-0) and 11^th-ranked Stanford (6-3).
• Against the Cardinals, Mira Karande (3-0), Sophie Barber (3-0) and Delphine King (3-0) all earned victories.
• The Polar Bears got back into the win column in a tight 5-4 win upset of 13^th-ranked William Smith on Monday. Big wins in close matches from Amanda Cowhey (3-2), Ursula Sze (3-2), Clio Bersani (3-2) helped propel Bowdoin while Sophie Barber and Delphine King picked up 3-0 sweeps to clinch it.
• Bowdoin continued to roll against 25^th-ranked St. Lawrence on Tuesday. Cowhey, Caroline Glaser, Bersani and Sze took 3-0 shutout wins. Barber (3-1) and King (3-2) rounded out the Bowdoin victors.
