BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College track & field teams have been lauded for their work in the classroom in Academic Awards handed out by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Polar Bears had 13 individuals earn prestigious All-Academic Athlete recognition while both the men's and women's teams ranked among the highest team GPA's in the nation to capture All-Academic Team status. The women's team racked up a team GPA of 3.741 to rank 10
th in Division III while the men's team boasted a team GPA of 3.63 to rank 13
th overall.
To earn individual All-Academic Athlete honors, athletes must have a 3.3 minimum cumulative GPA, rank among the top-50 in their event and/or top-35 in a relay event. Bowdoin's recipients were
Ryan Durkin (Biochemistry),
Max Russo (Economics) and
Cheng Xing (Mathematics and Computer Science) for the men's team. Ten Polar Bear women achieved the honor, including
