Coach Pizzo's Report - March 21
The Polar Bears returned to New England and the Mid-Atlantic after a windy week of training in Miami. The team competed in Geigor Trophy Team Race at MIT, the St. Mary's Women's Fleet Race, and the Southern New England Team Race at Coast Guard.
The team enjoyed spring conditions down at St. Mary's. Eighteen races were completed in both divisions. Conditions were light to moderate on Saturday with windier conditions on Sunday.Â
Lizzy Kaplan and
Hattie Slayton competed in A-division with
Teagan Cunningham,
Brooke Asherman, and
Christine Reimer competing in B division. The Polar Bears finished 10
th overall, led by Kaplan and Slayton with a strong showing in A-division.
The Southern New England Team Race at Coast Guard featured many of the top teams in New England. The team had a bit of an up and down weekend, struggling with starting and over team racing at times but also had some great moments against the top teams. The Polar Bears finished with a record of 5-10, earning a seventh-place overall finish.Â
Ellie Maus, Meg Gonzalez,
Chris Lukens,
Timmy Gee,
Tbo Antonietti, and
CJ Ricci competed for the Polar Bears.
The team will take a few days off before we prepare for three team race regattas this weekend including the Duplin Trophy at Tufts, the Friis Trophy at Roger Williams, and the Harpswell Sound Team Race at Bowdoin.
