Women's Track & Field Posts Top Finishes in Deep Field at Bates Invitational

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's indoor track and field team posted a number of outstanding performances in another strong weekend, this time at the non-scoring Bates Invitational, featuring a deep field that included a pair of Division I schools.
 
Meet Highlights
  • Serena Jonas came away with a win in the pentathlon, posting a career-best 3003 points thanks to particularly strong performances in the shot put and high jump.
  • Lydia Pitts won the 60 meter hurdles with a career-best time, just a fraction off the Bowdoin school mark, and followed it up with a second-place finish (top D3 performer) in the long jump (5.10m), hitting the D3 New England qualifying mark.
  • Leila Trummel won the 1000M race in 3:05.66 while Stephanie Chun took the mile in 5:14.29 for the Polar Bears.
  • Charlotte Hodge continued a strong start to her collegiate career with another first-place showing in the pole vault (3.70m) to round out the Bowdoin winners on the weekend.

  • Bowdoin will return to action next Saturday, January 29, at the University of Southern Maine Invitational in Gorham.
