MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Sophie Barber earned a 3-1 victory at the number four position to lift the Bowdoin women's squash team to a 5-4 victory over Hamilton in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament on Friday night at Wesleyan.
The Polar Bears (8-7) advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday where they will face top-seeded Trinity at 10:00 a.m.
Match Highlights
- Bowdoin took wins at the top three positions, getting 3-0 sweeps from Caroline Glaser (12-10, 12-10, 11-4), Clio Bersani (11-6, 11-8, 11-1) and Ursula Sze (11-6, 11-6, 11-7).
- Those performances, combined with a 3-1 (9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-5) comeback win by Callie Burkhart at number eight, put the Polar Bears in a 4-4 tie with the Continentals heading into the final match.
- Barber took care of business for the Polar Bears at the number four spot, posting an early lead and taking a 3-1 (11-5, 11-2, 5-11, 11-3) victory to put Bowdoin over the top.
