BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's squash team continued to roll, claiming a 5-4 thriller on Wednesday over Dickinson.
It is the fourth win in five matches for the 27th-ranked Polar Bears, who upset the 20th-ranked Red Devils.
Match Highlights
- The first wave of matches saw Callie Burkhart (3-1), Clio Bersani (3-1) and Sophie Barber (3-0) all secure wins, giving the Polar Bears an early 3-0 edge.
- Dickinson stormed back with a trio of victories in the second wave to tie the match, 3-3 overall.
- In the final round, Melissa Horan grabbed a 2-0 lead and held off a late rally to secure an exciting 11-8, 11-5, 7-11, 15-13 for the Polar Bears.
- After a Dickinson win tied the match at 4-4 overall, Ursula Sze proved to be the clincher, winning the first two games before a Dickinson comeback, but digging deep to win 11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 10-12, 11-8 and propel Bowdoin to the 5-4 victory.
