Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team jumped to an early lead and never looked back in a comfortable 12-7 win over Colby on Wednesday evening at Ryan Field.
The 14th-ranked Polar Bears continue to roll, winning their fifth straight game and improving to 7-4 (4-3 NESCAC). Three of those five wins have come against ranked opponents. The 13th-ranked Mules drop to 7-4 (3-4 NESCAC) with the loss.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin was in control from the start, stifling the Mules offense and sprinting to a 7-1 lead.
- Fiona Bundy scored three goals in the Polar Bear run to open the game and Eliza Denious' unassisted goal gave the hosts a 7-1 advantage with 12:40 remaining in the opening half.
- After goals by Emma Banks and Robyn Pirie trimmed the lead to 7-3, Denious gave Bowdoin some insurance with a free position goal with 39 seconds left in the period, giving the Polar Bears an 8-3 halftime lead.
- Bowdoin extended their lead to as many as seven goals in the second half after a three-goal surge, capped by an Amanda Anderson goal.
- Colby attempted to get back into the contest with a 3-0 run of their own, but Kara Finnerty squelched all thoughts of a comeback with a goal at 2:15 to give Bowdoin the 12-7 win.

- Bowdoin owned a 37-20 shot advantage thanks to an outstanding defensive effort that forced the Mules into 17 turnovers.
- Fiona Bundy had four goals and three ground balls for Bowdoin while Eliza Denious added three goals, three ground balls and five draw controls.
- Erin Morrissey made several clutch saves and finished with six for the game while also adding a caused turnover and five ground balls.
- Lyla Jones and Robyn Pirie had three goals apiece for Colby.
- Izzy Scribano made three saves and allowed six goals in 14:34 for Colby before being relieved by Emily Podgorni, who stopped ten shots and allowed six tallies over the final 45:26.
