BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-12 setback to Amherst on Saturday afternoon in a game played at the University of New England.

The Polar Bears fall to 1-1 (1-1 NESCAC) while the Mammoths improve to 2-1 (1-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

• Amherst came out firing, building an early three-goal lead in the first 7:49 of the contest.
• Bowdoin got on the board with a goal by Katie Miller, but Amherst answered with a 3-1 surge, sparked by a pair of goals by Leah Ritterband.
• The Polar Bears replied by closing the half on a 4-2 run, including a goal by Miller with 1:14 remaining in the opening frame to cut the gap to 8-6 at halftime.
• After an Amherst score to open the second half, Fiona Bundy tallied consecutive goals to make it a one goal game, 9-8, with 27:31 left in regulation.
• The Mammoths stemmed the tide with a 6-2 surge over the next 15 minutes, extending the lead to 15-10 on a goal by Hannah Gustafson with 8:31 to go.

• Bowdoin was led by five goals from Fiona Bundy. Katie Miller had three goals and one assist in the loss for the Polar Bears.
• Morgan Pinado had eight draw controls while Caroline Maxwell had two caused turnovers.
