BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Middlebury women's lacrosse team scored nine consecutive goals to close out the first half and held on to the lead for a 21-18 NESCAC win over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (2-4, 1-3 NESCAC) went up 8-3 in the opening of the game, but the sixth-ranked Panthers (4-1, 3-1) took a lead into the half and never relinquished control.

Game Highlights

• Bowdoin and Middlebury traded goals in the opening minutes, with Eliza Denious giving the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead before Jane Earley tied it 30 seconds later.
• The Polar Bears went ahead 8-3 by the midway point of the first half, paced by three Denious goals.
• Middlebury scored nine straight goals to close out the half, led by three from Earley.
• Katie Miller came out firing in the beginning of the second and scored for Bowdoin making it 12-9.
• The Polar Bears pulled within two off Fiona Bundy's goal at 23:38, but the Panthers went on a four goal run to extend their lead.

• Earley led both teams with five goals. Emma McDonagh and Casey O'Niell each chipped in four goals.
• Denious paced the Polar Bears with four goals. Bundy and Miller each tallied a hat trick, while Kara Finnerty dished out four assists.
• Middlebury held a 39-29 shot advantage. Bowdoin won 24 draw controls to Middlebury's 15.
• The Polar Bears suffered 16 turnovers while the Panthers committed 11.
