Men's Basketball Races Past Maine-Farmington in Monday Night Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – David Reynolds matched his career high with 31 points to lead the Bowdoin College men's basketball team to a convincing 74-46 win over Maine-Farmington on Monday evening.

Monday night's game was originally scheduled to be played in Farmington but was moved to Brunswick due to heating issues at the Maine-Farmington gymnasium. The Polar Bears improved to 11-5 with the win while the Beavers fell to 10-6.

Game Highlights             

  • The Polar Bears took complete command from the get-go, scoring the first 14 points of the game, highlighted by an alley-oop dunk from Hugh O'Neil.
  • Bowdoin built their lead to as many as 24 points in the first half and led 40-16 at intermission. David Reynolds scored 16 points himself in the opening period, matching the Beavers' output all by himself.
  • UMF made a bid to get back into the contest in the opening minutes of the second half, outscoring Bowdoin 12-3, closing to within 15 points, 43-28, following a running layup by Amir Moss with 16:54 remaining.
  • Bowdoin answered with a quick 7-0 run, sparked by a Reynolds three-pointer, to quickly push the lead back to 22 points.
  • The Polar Bears continued to roll and led by as many as 28 points down the stretch

By The Numbers

  • Reynolds finished the game with 31 points, matching his career high set earlier this season against Anna Maria. He was 12-20 from the field in the win.
  • Jack Simonds added 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals for Bowdoin while Hugh O'Neil and Zavier Rucker had nine points apiece.
  • Amir Moss led UMF with 12 points and five rebounds off the bench. Jack Kane had ten points for the Beavers.
  • Bowdoin finished at 42% shooting for the game against UMF's 2-3 zone while the Beavers struggled to a 36% clip, including 2-15 from three-point range.
  • Bowdoin converted 16 points off 15 Beaver turnovers and owned a 41-32 edge in rebounding.
