NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team used a five-goal run in the second half to blow open a tight contest and take a 16-12 win over Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears improve to 8-2 (5-2 NESCAC) with the win while the Camels fall to 1-8 (0-6 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

• A back-and-forth opening half saw the Polar Bears use a four-goal run, including two goals from Kara Finnerty, to open up a 10-5 lead with just 2:21 remaining in the period.
• The Camels scored twice in the final 19 seconds however, to trim Bowdoin's halftime lead to 10-7.
• Conn. College stayed hot to open the second half, as Jamie Navoni scored twice in a three-goal surge to tie the game at 10-10 with 24:20 remaining.
• Bowdoin took control from there, as Kelsey Gallagher started the decisive run with an unassisted goal at 23:48.
• Hannah Hirschfeld then scored twice times in a span of 5:05 to raise Bowdoin's lead to 14-10 with 12:43 to go.
• Kara Finnerty ended the run with her fifth goal of the game and Caroline Maxwell's first career goal put the contest on ice with 1:11 to go.

• Kara Finnerty and Hannah Hirschfeld led the way for Bowdoin with five-goal efforts and each had an assist as well.
• Kelsey Gallagher notched three goals and an assist while Annie Glenn had two goals and two helpers to go with a team-best six draw controls.
• Jamie Navoni led the Camels with six goals.
• Kayli Weiss made nine saves in the game for Bowdoin.
