ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team used a big second half rally to edge William Smith, 7-6, in a match played in Florida on Tuesday night.

The 14th-ranked Polar Bears move to 3-0 while the 19th-ranked Herons drop to 3-1 on the year. 

Game Highlights

• William Smith sprinted to a 4-0 lead in the opening half and carried that lead under the eight-minute mark in the first period.
• Bowdoin was able to trim the lead to 4-2 at intermission thanks to goals from Kelsey Gallagher and Annie Glenn before the break.
• The Herons pushed the lead back to three goals, 5-2, early in the second half before Bowdoin started its rally.
• The Polar Bears scored twice, courtesy from Hannah Hirschfeld and Mettler Growney, in a span of 1:17 to cut the lead to 5-4. Growney then tied the score five minutes later off a feed from Hirschfeld.
• Kara Finnerty gave Bowdoin its first lead with 8:03 to go before Ali Burns knotted the score for William Smith with 3:43 to go.
• Just 1:17 later, Growney took a feed from Allison Williams for the game-winner.
• Netminder Kayli Weiss sealed the win with under ten seconds to go, making a free-position save on William Smith's Alexandra Bird to clinch the victory.

• Growney finished with three goals - all in the second half - to lead all scorers while Hirschfeld ended with a goal and an assist.
• Anisa LaRochelle caused two turnovers for the Polar Bears, who owned a slight 20-17 edge in shots for the game.
