AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team took sixth place overall at the NESCAC Championship last weekend at Amherst College.
After an initial first-round win against Hamilton on Friday, the Polar Bears (6-10) dropped a 9-0 decision to Williams in the quarterfinals before rebounding to defeat Tufts (5-4) in the consolation bracket. In the fifth/sixth place match, Amherst edged Bowdoin 5-4.
Weekend Highlights
- Alexa Horwitz was the lone Polar Bear to steal a set against the Ephs, dropping a 3-1 (9-11, 11-1, 11-4, 11-2) decision at #3.
- The Polar Bears won the top five positions of their match against Tufts to take the tight 5-4 win. Sarah Nelson and Tully Ross took 3-0 sweeps while Lindsey Bindra, Horwitz and Chloe Polikoff all earned 3-1 triumphs.
- In their final match of the weekend, Bowdoin couldn't best Amherst despite valiant efforts across the lineup. Bindra and Polikoff earned 3-2 wins while Horwitz and Ross posted 3-1 wins. The Polar Bears suffered 3-0 losses at every other position, however, as the Purple & White took the win.

- Bowdoin will return to action with their final regular season match on Friday, February 10, at the Lubin Center against Colby (6:00 p.m.) in a match rescheduled from Jan. 24. The match will be webcast live on the Northeast Sports Network.
