BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Middlebury College men's basketball team rode a hot-shooting first half to take a 87-57 win over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Morrell Gymnasium.

The 16th-ranked Panthers improve to 18-3 (6-2 NESCAC) and extend their winning streak to five games. The Polar Bears fall to 11-10 (2-7 NESCAC) with the setback.

Game Highlights

• The Panthers never trailed on Saturday afternoon as after an early exchange of baskets the visitors went on an 11-0 run, spurred by five straight points from Jake Brown, to take a 15-4 lead just six minutes into the contest.
• The lead stayed in double digits for the remainder of the first half as the Panthers carried a 46-33 edge into the locker room thanks to 12 first-half points from Brown.
• Bowdoin squandered a chance to claw back into the contest in the opening moments of the second half, missing their first seven shots of the period.
• Middlebury took advantage of Bowdoin's slow start and opened the frame on a 13-4, pushing the lead to 22, 59-37, following a Jack Daly three-pointer with 15 minutes remaining.
• The Panthers pushed their lead to as many as 34 points in the second half en route to the win.

By The Numbers

• Middlebury connected on ten three-pointers in the contest and shot 46% overall from the field compared to just 34% for Bowdoin.
• The Panthers held a commanding 50-31 edge on the glass and were particularly effective on the offensive boards, converting 21 second-chance points.
• Five Middlebury players saw double-digits, led by 16 apiece from Jake Brown and Matt St. Amour. Eric McCord had 14 points and 12 rebounds (nine offensive).
• Bowdoin was led by 16 points from Tim Ahn and 11 from Jack Simonds in the loss.
