Women's Squash Rebounds From Bates Loss to Edge Conn. College

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team played a pair of tight matches last weekend, opening their campaign with a loss to Bates 7-2 and win over Connecticut College 5-4.

The Polar Bears (1-1) are ranked 24th in the latest College Squash Association national poll.

Weekend Highlights

  • Despite the setback to 15th-ranked Bates, Bowdoin was able to win a pair of matches. Zoe Wood and Mariela Mendoza both earned 3-0 sweeps at positions five and six for the Polar Bears.
  • Bowdoin got contributions across the board in knocking off 28th-ranked Connecticut College on Sunday. Wood (3-1) and Mendoza (3-0) again battled for wins at five and six.
  • Tully Ross (3-0) and Alexa Horwitz (3-0) earned points for Bowdoin at number two and three.
  • Lindsey Bindra clinched the win with a 3-0 victory at the number one spot to give Bowdoin the victory.

  • Bowdoin will travel to Clinton, N.Y. to play at Hamilton College in their next match on Saturday, December 2.
