WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team earned its first win of the campaign in a busy weekend of action to open 2017.

The Polar Bears earned a convincing 9-0 win over 28th-ranked Mount Holyoke on Friday before falling to 11th-ranked Williams 9-0 and 15th-ranked Middlebury 8-1. Bowdoin (1-5) is ranked 18th in the latest College Squash Association national rankings.

Weekend Highlights

• Bowdoin earned a clean sweep of the Lyons thanks to solid performances all the way through the lineup.
• The Polar Bears did not lose a set in any of the top five spots on the ladder, as Sarah Nelson, Lindsey Bindra, Tully Ross, Alexa Horwitz and Chloe Polikoff all earned 3-0 triumphs.
• Laura Howells (3-1), Zoe Wood (3-0), Mariela Mendoza (3-1) and Perla Rubi (3-0) rounded out the Polar Bear winners.
• Ross accounted for the other Bowdoin win on the weekend, earning a 3-2 (11-8,8-11,11-6,10-12,11-8) victory at #3 against Middlebury on Saturday.
