Women's Track & Field Claims the Crown at 2016 Aloha Relays

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's outdoor track and field team claimed the title at the 2016 Aloha Relays hosted at Magee-Samuelson Track on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears totaled 171 points to edge Southern Maine (165), followed by Bates (125), Colby (90), Wellesley (57.5), Husson (31.5), Mount Holyoke (23) and Maine-Farmington (4).

Meet Highlights

  • Addison Carvajal won five of the seven events en route to a victory in the Heptathlon with a score of 3,982 points
  • The Polar Bears went 1-2 in the 800 meters as Meghan Bellerose (2:18.33) and Sarah Kelley (2:19.05) finished within a second of each other
  • Bowdoin also won the 4x800 meter relay (9:35.96) by a dominating 40-second margin behind the efforts of Julia O'Rourke, Bellerose, Allyson Fulton and Demi Feder
  • Katie Krupp won the triple jump (11.79 meters) and was third in the long jump (5.11 meters) for Bowdoin
  • Pamela Zabala claimed the discus throw (38.93 meters) while Lucy Knott took the hammer throw (45.82 meters)
  • Ellen Masalsky rounded out the Bowdoin winners with a first-place finish in the javelin (37.82 meters)
