HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team mounted a furious second half rally, but couldn't overcome Trinity in a 12-9 loss on Saturday afternoon at Sheppard Field.

The 10th-ranked Bantams improve to 7-2 (4-1 NESCAC) this season while the 20th-ranked Polar Bears fall to 4-5 (0-5 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

• After Megan O'Connor gave Bowdoin an early 1-0 lead, Trinity went on a 5-1 run, sparked by a pair of Karly Simpson goals, to take a 6-2 edge midway through the opening frame
• Trinity closed the half on a 3-1 run over the final five minutes to take a 8-4 edge at the break
• Bowdoin came out firing in the second half, getting a pair of goals from Lindsay Picard to cut the lead to 8-6
• After Clare Lyne got one back for Trinity, O'Connor and Picard found the back of the net again for the Polar Bears to trim the lead to 9-8 with 17:41 to go
• But Trinity stemmed the tide, getting a goals from Kiley Coffey and Martha Griffin to push the lead back to 11-8 with 11:14 to go
• Emma Beecher scored with 9:06 remaining for Bowdoin to make it 11-9, but the Polar Bears could get no closer
