Coach Pizzo's Report - April 4
Two of the Bowdoin's three scheduled races for the weekend were shortened to just Saturday following an unfavorable weather forecast for Sunday.
The BU Trophy featured sixteen teams from around New England. Conditions were wet all day with moderate and shifty breeze. Jack Fullerton and Eve Allen sailed A division with Chester Jacobs and Emily Salitan in B division. The Polar Bears finished fourth overall.
Just up the river from BU, the Polar Bears competed at the Marchiando Team Race hosted by MIT. The event featured thirteen teams from New England plus Stanford. Sunday's racing was cancelled because of a nasty forecast for the Boston area. The Polar Bears had a good day on the Charles River, finishing with a record of 8-5, earning a fifth place overall out of 14 teams. Jack McGuire, Hunter Moeller, Matt Kaplan, Julia Rew, Harrison Hawk, Louisa Lindgren, Matt Lyons, and Jake Griffin competed for the Polar Bears.
Racing was limited on day one down at the Dellenbaugh Trophy with only four races in A division and 3 races in B division. The Polar Bears ended Saturday in 15th and improved to finish 12th overall. Only three races took place in extremely windy conditions on Sunday.
