Track & Field Posts Numerous Wins at Panther Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Bowdoin College outdoor track & field team enjoyed a successful trip to the Panther Invitational this weekend at Middlebury College.

The Polar Bear men finished second in the five-team field while the Bowdoin women took third overall.

Men's Meet Highlights

  • Jibrail Coy led a 1-4 finish for Bowdoin in the 100 meter dash (11.32) while John Kennealy took first in the 800 meters (1:56.65), edging out teammate Conor Donahue (1:56.93)
  • Calvin Henry claimed the 1500 meters (4:03.07) at the wire over Matt Jacobson (4:03.35) while Nicholas Walker's PR won the 5000 meters (15:02.98)
  • Alan Banks also set a personal best in winning the 400 meter hurdles (56.39)
  • The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Andrew Murowchick, Coy, Harrison Porter and Latif Armiyaw took first place in 43.47
  • Brian Greenberg led a strong field-event showing for Bowdoin by winning the long jump (6.68 meters) and triple jump (14.41). 
  • The Polar Bears also went 1-2 in the discus with John Pietro (41.44 meters) and Thomas Rehnquist (39.29) as well as the hammer throw with Vincent LaRovere (44.33 meters) and Pietro (42.64)
  • First-year Joseph Staudt won the high jump for the Polar Bears (1.88 meters)

Women's Meet Highlights

  • Sarah Kelley won the 1500 meters in a time of 4:38.35, which ranks among the top 20 in Division III this spring
  • Bowdoin first-year Samantha Schaefer came away with a first-place finish in the 100 meter dash (12.79)
  • Bowdoin's 4x100 relay team of Shekinah Pettway, Naomi Jabouin, Sara Ory and Schaefer also came away with a first-place finish in a time of 50.40
  • In the women's field events, Bowdoin was outstanding, getting wins from Addison Carvajal in the high jump (1.58 meters) and Katharine Krupp in the triple jump (11.62 meters)
  • Pamela Zabala (a personal-record 40.29 meters) and Ellen Masalsky (32.49) finished 1-2 in the discus for Bowdoin while Lucy Knott won the hammer throw (44.63)
