Coach Pizzo's Report - April 18
The Polar Bears competed in three regattas this weekend including the Oberg Trophy hosted by Northeastern, the President's Trophy at Boston University, and the Thompson Trophy hosted by the US Coast Guard Academy. The President's Trophy had similar conditions to the Oberg. The Polar Bears lead the regatta after Saturday's racing but slipped to second overall on Sunday but the team still had a great event. Courtney Koos, Sydney Avitia Jacques, Ellis Price, Martie Ogle, and Mimi Paz sailed for the Polar Bears. Courtney Koos and Sydney Avitia Jacques won A division at the event.
Finally, the Polar Bears competed at the highly competitive Thompson Trophy at Coast Guard. There were windy conditions with tricky current on the Thames River. The Polar Bears were a bit up and down at the event but greatly benefited from the competitive starting line. Jack McGuire, Hunter Moeller, Harrison Hawk, Louisa Lindgren, Emily Salitan, Olivia Diserio, and Erin Mullins competed for the Polar Bears. Mullins and Diserio finished second overall in C division.
Next weekend is a big one with the Women's New England Championship for the Jerry Reed Trophy at Yale and the Boston Dinghy Challenge Cup at MIT.
