Women's Lacrosse Storms Nor'easters In Home Opener

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team scored the first dozen goals of the game on its way to a 15-3 non-conference win over the University of New England on Tuesday evening.

The 12th-ranked Polar Bears (1-1) earn their first victory of the season while the Nor'easters (2-2) have lost two in a row.

Game Highlights

  • Bowdoin scored six times in the opening 7:20 to take a commanding early lead
  • Lindsay Picard sparked the early run with three straight goals in a span of just 33 seconds
  • Megan O'Connor scored a pair of first-half goals for Bowdoin while Sophia Lubrano and Allison Williams scored their first career goals as the Polar Bears carried an 11-0 lead into the break
  • Picard scored the first goal of the second period as Bowdoin pushed the lead to 12 goals
  • Korinne Bohunsky and Brooke Kelleher got UNE on the board with consecutive goals at 23:00 and 19:15 to cut the lead back to ten goals
  • Bowdoin answered with three straight before Bohunsky's second of the game capped the scoring before the final buzzer

  • Picard finished with four goals and an assist to lead all scorers while O'Connor recorded three goals and an assist. Hannah Hirschfeld and Lubrano had two goals each for the hosts
  • Picard also had a game-high five draw controls while Emma Beecher and Sophie Janes had two caused turnovers apiece. Annie Glenn led the Polar Bears with three ground balls
  • Bohunsky led the visitors with two goals while Kyra Taylor had a game-high four ground balls
  • Lauryn Huck (11 goals, 11 saves) and Courtney Kendall (four goals, five saves) split time in net for UNE
