HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team took sixth place at the NESCAC Championship tournament this weekend at Trinity College.
The Polar Bears (10-9) played three tight matches, losing 6-3 to Amherst in the quarterfinals, defeating Colby 5-4 in the consolation round, before falling to Bates in the fifth place match, 6-3.
Weekend Highlights
- Bowdoin came close to knocking off Amherst in the quarterfinals as Sarah Nelson (3-1) and Torey Lee (3-0) earned impressive wins at the top two positions. Tully Ross (3-1) was the only other Polar Bear winner however, as Amherst earned 3-0 sweeps at the bottom four positions to seal the win
- Against Colby, Bowdoin took wins at the top five positions to clinch the victory. Nelson (3-1), Lee (3-1), Alexa Horwitz (3-2), Ross (3-0) and Chloe Polikoff (3-1) were the difference for the Polar Bears
- In the fifth-place match against Bates, the Bobcats avenged a regular season loss to the Polar Bears. Lee earned her third win of the weekend (3-0) but Horwitz (3-0) and Nicole Ampatey (3-2) were the only other victors for the Polar Bears in the loss
