Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team fell 4-1 in its Friday night series opener at Connecticut College.
The Polar Bears slip to 8-10-2 (5-7-1 NESCAC), while the Camels improve to 13-7-1 (7-5-1 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Julie Beattie tallied the game's first goal just 11 seconds into play. Connecticut College won the faceoff, leading to a slapshot by Beattie at the left point. The puck went five-hole on Sophia Lattanzio to put the Camels ahead 1-0.
- Elena Gualtieri doubled her team's lead ten minutes later. A two-on-one developed following a neutral ice faceoff, with Stephanie Izzi drawing the defense towards the right side. Izzi fed a streaking Gualtieri in the slot, who deked to her backhand to net Connecticut's second goal.
- Bowdoin cut the lead in half with under three minutes to play in the opening period, following pressure by Julie Dachille on the left side. Dachille forced a turnover and slid a backhand pass to Ariana Bourque for a tap in on the far post.
- Katlyn Paiva tallied a solo effort five minutes into the final frame, sneaking a wrap around past Lattanzio just inside the post.
- Jordan Cross capped the scoring with a power play goal at 12:49. Cross pulled the puck out of a scrum on the right side boards and cut along the faceoff circle into the slot. Cross slid a quick backhander past the Bowdoin defense to end the 4-1 route.
