BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team used a three goal second period to come away with a 4-0 win over visiting Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears' offense came alive in the series finale, after struggling to produce in Friday's game. Bowdoin improves to 7-8-2 (4-5-1 NESCAC) while holding Wesleyan scoreless through a pair of games. The Cardinals leave Maine at 4-12-1 (1-8-1 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Miranda Bell gave Bowdoin a 1-0 lead 8:52 into the first period on the power play. Marissa Fichter set up the play with a pass from the left post, centering to Bell in the low slot. Bell's one-timer ended nearly 75 minutes of scoreless hockey between the two teams.
- Cici Frattasio tipped a feed coming from behind the net and challenged Lan Crofton to make a quick glove save from close range nine minutes into the second period.
- Bowdoin erupted for three goals over six minutes, extending the score to 4-0, midway through the middle frame. Ariana Bourque scored back-to-back goals at 8:24 and 10: 18, set up by Julie Dachille. Dachille worked the left side boards and centered to Bourque to go ahead 2-0. Bourque buried a rebound off Dachille's shot on the right post to push Bowdoin's lead to three.
- Dachille tallied a goal of her own at 14:22, sneaking the puck between Laura Corcoran and the right post, off a low angle shot below the circle on Bowdoin's final power play of the afternoon.
