Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Amherst women's ice hockey team forced a series split after stealing game two on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Bowdoin.
The Polar Bears sit at 6-6-0 (3-3-0 NESCAC) following the conference series. Amherst leaves Maine at 9-1-3 (5-1-2 NESCAC) with a single blemish on its previously undefeated season.
Game Highlights
- Julie Dachille put Bowdoin on the board just over the halfway point in the first period. The puck slid into neutral territory following sustained Amherst pressure with Dachille beating the defender to earn a one-on-one. The sophomore skated down the center before pulling to her right and sliding to the ice as she put away the game's first goal.
- Eileen Harris set up Katie Savage to even the score just a minute later. Harris set up above the right faceoff circle, sending the puck near side of the crease. Savage connected with the incoming puck and bested Lan Crofton to tie the game.
- Amherst took its first lead of the game with 2:17 remaining in the opening frame. Savage found the puck following a defensive scramble in the crease and pushed it ahead for Katelyn Pantera who tallied the goal.
- Lynndy Smith rang a shot off the crossbar with 6:30 left in the second period after receiving a feed from the right side.
- Amherst added to its lead with a power play goal 7:50 into the final period. Camille Herzog tallied her first career goal off a feed from Harris.
