Sailing Qualifies for Co-Ed Nationals For Second Consecutive Year

Coach Pizzo's Report - May 4

This past weekend the Polar Bears competed at the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl hosted by Salve Regina.  This event is the New England Dinghy Championship and the top eight teams qualify for Dinghy Nationals which are being hosted by Brown University and Salve Regina June 1st-4th.

Conditions were great for racing with the classic Newport seabreeze filling in each day.  Fifteen races were completed in each division.  The Polar Bears finished fifth of eighteen teams and qualified for Nationals for the second straight year.  The Polar Bears had a big squad at the event including Jack McGuire, Charlotte Williamson, Matt Lyons, Dana Bloch, Mimi Paz, Jake Griffin, Harrison Hawk, Julia Rew, and Michael Croteau.

Jack McGuire, Charlotte Williamson, and Matt Lyons finished 10th in A division.  The highlight of the weekend was Michael Croteau '15, Dana Bloch '17, and Mimi Paz '17 finishing first in B division.

The team will take a little time off before training for Women's Nations May 24-28 and Dinghy Nationals June 1-4.
