BRUNSWICK, Maine- Capitalizing and depth and several strong showings in the field events, the Bowdoin women's track and field team captured a win at this year's Aloha Relays hosted on the Magee-Samuelson Track.
The Polar Bears totaled 145 points to edge Bates (134). Southern Maine (120), Colby (96) and Wellesley (61) were the next-highest finishers in the eight-team field.
Bowdoin had four athletes finish the day with first place showings. Hayleigh Kein topped 1.62 meters in the high jump, besting the second place finisher from Colby who turned in a 1.56 meter attempt. Katharine Krupp took first in the triple jump with a final jump of 11.28 meters to earn another ten points for Bowdoin, in addition to her third place finish in the long jump (4.99 meters).
Randi London won the discus throw with a 38.85 meter effort and took a third place finish in the shot put with an 11.46 meter distance. Ellen Masalsky rounded out the top finishes for the Polar Bears with a 39.97 meter javelin throw. Bowdoin went 1-2 in the event with Lucy Knott coming in second with a 36.98 meter toss.
The women's track and field team travels to Williams next weekend for the NESCAC Championship.
