Coach Pizzo's Report - April 20
The Polar Bears had a busy weekend on the water, competing at four events including the Navy Spring Regatta, the Owen Trophy at Yale, the Women's Presidents Trophy at BU, and the Savin Hill Invite at Boston College.
The Polar Bears finished 11th of 20 teams at the Navy Spring, losing the tiebreaker with the 10th ranked team. Conditions were all over the place with strong breeze and waves on Sunday. Jack McGuire and Charlotte Williamson finished 12th in A Division while Harrison Hawk and Julia Rew finished 8th in B division.
At the Owen Trophy hosted by Yale, light air limited racing until the sea breeze filled in both afternoons. The Polar Bears had another solid event finishing 11th of 18 teams. Michael Croteau and Mimi Paz finished 9th in division while Matt Lyons, Olivia Diserio, and Martie Ogle finished 11th in B division.
Eight different sailors competed at the President's Trophy hosted by BU including Courtney Koos, Sydney Jacques, Lizzy Hamilton, Jade Willey, Erin Mullins, Dana Bloch, Emily Salitan, and Ellis Price. The Polar Bears finished third of the fourteen teams at the event. Finally, Bowdoin competed at the Savin Hill Invite hosted by Boston College. The team sailed in terrific conditions both days and gained valuable time before this upcoming weekends Women's Championship. The Polar Bears finished sixth of sixteen teams. Competing for Bowdoin included Chester Jacobs, Nora Cullen, Alex Vasiliou, Jake Griffin, Lizzy Hamilton, Jade Willey, Courtney Koos, and Sydney Jacques.
