Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team closed the game on a 6-1 run to rally past Connecticut College, 14-10, on Sunday afternoon.
The seventh-ranked Polar Bears continue to roll with their fourth straight win, improving to 10-2 (6-2 NESCAC). The Camels fall to 3-9 (1-7 NESCAC) with the loss.
Lindsay Picard led the way for Bowdoin with a four-goal effort while also collecting three draw controls and three ground balls. Taylor Wilson had three goals and an assist while Emma Beecher also recorded a hat trick for the Polar Bears. Taylor Thomas led the Camels with three goals.
Bowdoin held a 7-5 lead at halftime, but the Camels rallied to take the lead with three straight goals to open the second half. Bowdoin evened the score, 8-8, on a Wilson goal with 19:05 to go, but the Camels answered less than 30 seconds later on a marker from Erin Moran to regain a 9-8 lead with 18:36 remaining.
Connecticut College maintained that lead until, with under 12 minutes to go, the Polar Bears exploded for four goals in a three-minute span. Wilson started the rally with the game-tying goal at 11:56 and Mettler Growney notched the go-ahead score just 52 seconds later. Beecher and Picard added goals in the run that extended Bowdoin's lead to 12-9 with 9:16 to go. The Camels were able to draw within 12-10 on their next possession, but goals from Growney and Beecher in the final seven minutes sealed the win.
Isabel Sippel made six saves for Bowdoin, who held a 31-18 advantage in shots. The Polar Bears will return to action on Thursday evening with their final regular season home game against Southern Maine at 7:00 p.m.
