Women's Squash Advances to Walker Cup Final After Beating Hamilton

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team posted an impressive 6-3 win over Hamilton in the semifinals of the Walker Cup Division at CSA Nationals on Saturday.

The Polar Bears will play Amherst on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. for the Walker Cup title. Bowdoin will be looking to reclaim the crown they last won in 2013. The Jeffs won the regular-season meeting between the teams, 6-3, on January 9.

Bowdoin avenged an early-season loss to Hamilton on Saturday, receiving contributions from all over the ladder. The Polar Bears earned a trio of 3-0 wins, courtesy of Virginia Ross (#3), Diya Chopra (#5) and Emily Simonton (#9). Bowdoin had to work to earn their remaining points, as Sara Wlodarczyk claimed a 3-1 win at #6 with Chloe Polikoff and Sarah Nelson netting 3-2 victories.

Polikoff jumped ahead and held off her challenger at #7 for a 11-7,11-4,7-11,8-11,11-4 win. Nelson worked in a similar fashion in the top spot, taking a 2-0 lead and then earning a hard-fought fifth in a 11-9,11-8,10-12,8-11,11-9 win.
