Women's Squash Splits Saturday Matches in First Semester Finale

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wellesley before falling to Trinity.

The Polar Bears, ranked 18th in the nation, have won three of their last four matches overall. Wellesley is ranked 22nd nationally while Trinity stands sixth in the country.

Highlights

  • Bowdoin cruised to the win over Wellesley, claiming victories at the top seven spots in an eventual 8-1  victory
  • Sarah Nelson (3-0), Torey Lee (3-0), Alexa Horwitz (3-0), Tully Ross (3-0), Diya Chopra (3-0), Chloe Polikoff (3-0) and Mariela Mendoza (3-1) notched points for Bowdoin in the top seven positions
  • Natalie LaPlant rounded out the win with a 3-0 victory at the number nine position
  • In the 9-0 loss to Trinity, LaPlant earned the top performance, claiming two games in an eventual 3-2 setback

  • Saturday closed out the first semester for the Polar Bears, who will return to action on January 8 at home against St. Lawrence at 7:30 p.m.
