LANCASTER, Pa. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team lost its first two matches but bounced back in its third to open the 2015 campaign at Franklin & Marshall last weekend.
The Polar Bears (1-2) suffered setbacks to Franklin & Marshall (9-0) and Drexel (9-0) before edging Dickinson in their first win of the season, 5-4. Bowdoin is ranked 18th in the first College Squash Association rankings of the season while F&M (16th), Drexel (13th) and Dickinson (27th) also appear in the poll.
Weekend Highlights
- After suffering the two shutout losses to open the season, the middle of Bowdoin's lineup led the way in the victory over Dickinson
- Virginia Ross (3-0) at number four and Chloe Polikoff (3-0) at number six earned sweeps while Diya Chopra (3-1) and Mariela Mendoza (3-1) also collected wins
- Alexa Horwitz went five to earn the deciding point for Bowdoin, rallying on two occasions and dominating the final two sets for a 3-2 win (9-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-2, 11-2)
