Simonton Named NESCAC Player of Week as Women's Squash Wins Trio of Matches

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The women's squash team enjoyed its finest weekend of the season so far, capturing three wins in action at the Pioneer Valley Invitational.

As a result, Bowdoin senior Emily Simonton captured NESCAC Women's Squash Player of the Week recognition for her efforts in leading the Polar Bears, who improve to 4-7 this season.

Bowdoin opened the weekend with a 9-0 loss to Drexel, but rebounded quickly with a 9-0 triumph over Mount Holyoke. Bowdoin then edged Wesleyan 5-4 before dispatching Smith 8-1.

Four Polar Bears recorded three wins to spark the effort over the weekend, led by Simonton, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 win to clinch the victory over the Cardinals. Diya Chopra, Chloe Polikoff and Alex Moreno also all earned a trio of victories in the Wesleyan, Mount Holyoke and Smith matches.

Bowdoin will look to stay hot next weekend as they travel to Brown for a match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. On Sunday, the team will host Colby for a 1:00 p.m. match.
